We now have Series 1 – Outsider Art, Series 2 – 1001 Monsters, Series 3 – Unfinished and also Series 4 – Eyes. But here we are looking back at Series 5 – Portfolio.
Formula is probably the word that comes to mind when thinking of Series 5. I developed a style and embraced it. Most of the Comic Book Poems are 2 pages long and have a second page of character design.
The stories within the poetry reflect on longing and loss and this has created a melancholy tone. Visually I tried to do different things with presenting text. Comic Book Poems allow readers to consume the Comics and the Poetry in different ways and having atypical text layouts allow this.
Having a formula or theme is something I will develop in further series of Comic Book Poems.
